The Coach patch of faith and the serial number is the number 1 topic of conversation when the authenticity of a Coach purse is discussed. Nobody wants to buy a fake bag. Everyone wants to know for sure if the bag is authentic, especially when buying from an online auction like eBay. But is this mysterious serial number, a real indicator? In a word, NO.
First, a real serial number is unique. The search for a coach with an actual patch unique serial number isalmost impossible. Coach has not used a real serial number for about 10 years. Sure, the older bags have true serial numbers, but no more. The cause of myths, legends or simple truths, un-urban environment, "the patch" have a lot of girls into a frenzy of panic after receiving a bag that had a patch with no numbers or, worse yet, no patch at all go!
The fact is, not all the bags they have. In fact, most have not! Most of the leather patches are beautifully shaped. Some of the newer bags have a metallic cursive style writing on them, rather than a stamp. Some of the accessory pockets, as mentioned above will not have any numbers, but can still be a kind of faith, usually ashorter version of the above examples.
Another misconception is that Coach bags are made in the USA, and that everything made in China must be fake. That is not true, and it is hard to believe so many people believe. Coach is still produced bags in the U.S. for about 10 years and 90% or more of their products in China. There are also other countries such as Turkey, Italy, Pakistan, Mexico and India among others. It is almost always the word China on their faithPatches.
The bottom line is that just because a coach is without a leather bag faith, does not mean it's a knockoff. Most companies producing fake bags would be put in anyways. It is perhaps not the right style numbers. Perhaps it is not leather. This could have been misspelled. However, it will probably be there with a fake bag. Do not be upset by a "no patch" bag.
